"Want Me, take me, want me" by Martha Amos

Buy one get one free liquidation domination,
The under a fiver fight against female temptation, has got...me....BAD!
And yes, I confess,
I'm standing in doorways staring at 'BEST PRICE YET DRESS!'
Persuading myself to go in, knowing not to is best
Bowled over by the sequined pearl-pinned vest, that's £2.99...and that's fine...
Until...I see the shoes....those shoes.....
And like an alcoholic to booze, a millionaire to a cruise, an old man to his snooze,
I meet to lose, with my stiletto stung dreams
And their full knit wool seams, tippy toe bow that screams
'Want me, take me, want me' Screams 'Want me, take me, want me!' Beams
'You know I'd look great with your cream Klein jeans'
That black kitten heel teamed with my like-new light blue eBay tights redeemed
From the voucher I got from returning the boots of tweed, flip flops with beads
That I didn't want see, that I just didn't need.

And I've got visions of all the boots I own in greens, gold's and beiges,
Of all the time's I've said 'These old things? Erm, had 'em for ages' knowing their new.
I imagine your face, the feeling of being an utter disgrace
So I quickly turn around...but see my head's in the clouds, so feet: not on the ground.

And then comes....'I'll just try them on...' But soon two pairs see, and not just one,
So both pairs I don, and look in the mirror's refection,
It's all new me to you, shoe shine perfection with your
'Want me, take me, want me' complexion,
Your look that's like 'Baby! Let's make a connection'
Your 'Want me, take me, want me' infection

And there you are.....looking at me, shining like a star, winking with glee, planting that seed
Of 'Want me, take me, want me' greed, Of 'want me take me, take, take heed'
I wont. I can't. I musn't. Shut up!
But oh woe, bad luck
As with graceful pleats you hang like sheets,
On to your over-priced, finely fixed, so sweet, Jane Norman tag

Then...the before you know it 'thanks' and 'receipts in the bag.'
